Zebras Care in Columbus
Sunday, December 06, 2009
As Dennis LaRue, Eric Furlatt, and Bryan Pancich and I were talking about the up coming match between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Columbus Blue Jackets, we had a knock on the door, and a bright eyed boy came into our room.

Tim Bailey, brother Brian, and friend Zach, came in to see what it is like to be an National Hockey League official for the day. Tim is 13 years old, and full of spirit. He told us that he plays on the sled hockey team there in Columbus, and that he is one of the best players out there. We could see that he wasn't kidding either.

With the fire and drive that Tim showed us, there is no doubt in our minds, that he is special in so many ways. He is a fast-talking, quick-witted kid. We told him that he would make a great official and would be able to diffuse any situation that would arise. But he sure told us where his heart was...."I love playing hockey and want to keep doing that"!

We escorted him out onto the ice and took a couple of pictures with his NEW favorite referee jersey. We had a great time sharing stories with him, his family, and friends. As the game got going, Tim was sitting down by the glass cheering for his Blue Jackets. What was great to see, he had a few fist pumps for us while the game was being played. What a great experience for Tim, and not to mention, for us also.
